Young people are an integral part of the CHS family and we aim create spaces where they are able to have, relax, discuss and explore on their own terms, but also engage with and serve in the wider church community

CHS Youth meets regularly on Sunday mornings at 9:30am and Friday evenings at 7:30pm. Other events such as Youth Alpha, Youth Camps, a visit to watch cricket or go ice skating may be part of our yearly planning.

Sunday mornings focus on Bible teaching and discussion and aims to offer our Youth solid grounding in God’s Word. “Know what you believe so that when times of testing come, you will be prepared” is our motto that is championed by Philippians 2:14-15 (the verse that is painted on the wall in the Upper Room where we meet). This is a safe place where the Youth can pray and be prayed for, grapple with the tough issues, ask those tough questions and learn to read and apply the Bible for themselves.

Friday evenings are simply hectic fun! We have a bible study which starts at 6:30pm and is a great opportunity to dig more deeply in the bible and ask questions. The main session usually kicks off with munchies and chill time followed by a few chaotic games and activities. A short but challenging Bible message tends to round off the evening nicely before we pack up and go home. Fridays offer a safe and “un-churchy” environment to which the Youth can invite friends, and this has proved to be most effective in growing this group!

There are also other avenues of service for Youth including teaching in Children’s Church and helping with sound desk / Sunday welcome / website and much more!

If you are in high school and are interested in coming along or are finished school and keen to get involved in leading Youth, then email Brendan Fox on brendan@chscapetown.org. We would love to have you join us!
